Who performs these procedures?
Gynecologists and a few plastic surgeons. Gynecologists have been specifically trained in vaginal surgery and the repair of fallen bladders or rectums during their four year residency.
Although gynecologists have an advantage in this area of the body, with enough experience and training all specialties named above can perform aesthetic vaginal surgery.

What's the story with the use of lasers?
Many lasers are very precise and are often used as scalpels. Some lasers are ablative or destructive and are used just for that purpose. Lasers though are not the ultimate answer to vaginal surgery. There are other modalities that are more precise and less thermally destructive to surrounding tissue.
There is no doubt that as a marketing tool the word “Laser “ in “laser vaginal surgery” sounds far more glorious then calling it simply vaginal rejuvenation or vaginoplasty. However, the end results are superior with the Ellman Surgitron, which is my instrument of choice for recreating your perfect desire.

Where is this procedure performed?
These procedures are typically performed in an outpatient surgical center or a hospital operating room.
However, many of our patients are candidates for having these procedures performed in the office with local sedation along with an oral or ingestible medication, thereby bypassing the ____ of general anesthesia.. Wherever these procedures are performed, the patients comfort and safety are our first and most important concern.

What type of anesthesia is used?
Patients have several options depending on their comfort level and anxiety.
General anesthesia is most commonly used as per the patients request not to feel or know anything.
Another option is regional anesthesia, which is a spinal or epidural type of anesthesia. This type of anesthesia allows the patient to be fully awake without feeling any pain.
Sedation and local anesthesia is an option for those undergoing less invasive procedures. This type of anesthesia is often chosen by patients who want to have minimal down time after the surgical procedure.
All of the above methods of anesthesia allow a pain-free & safe setting for our patients. Top
What should I do if I am interested in vaginal surgery?
The first step is to call the office or simply email us to set up your initial consultation. During this initial consultation Dr. Ghozland and patient will discuss in depth the procedure, the realistic goals and outcomes. If at the time of consultation the physician and patient agree that surgery is the correct choice for the patient then a surgical date will be set that best suits the patient. Prior to surgery Dr. Ghozland re-evaluates the patient and once again reviews the procedure and helps to answer any remaining questions. Pre-operative testing may be required and may include blood work and clearance for surgery by the patient’s primary care physician.
If the patient is from out of town, our staff will assist you in making hotel accommodations locally. One trip to sunny southern California is all that is needed to perform your cosmetic vaginal surgery. If you are from out of town, Dr. Ghozland will need to see you one day prior to surgery and the day after surgery for evaluation. Top

What do I do after the surgery?
We recommend that you allow for pelvic rest for at least 6 – 8 weeks.
Pelvic rest is defined as nothing inside the vagina for 6 – 8 weeks; this includes tampons or vibrators and no sexual intercourse for that length of time.
You will be given an applicator with an estrogen cream to insert daily to help the healing process. This applicator is the only thing that should be inserted into your vagina.
We typically recommend that during the healing process you try to wear loose clothing and no tight fitting pants.
Lifting heavy objects that may cause straining is also not recommended during the healing process. We want to stay away from anything that may place tension on your suture line or stretch tissues that we have re-approximated and tighten during your surgery. In summary, for the 6-8 weeks after your surgery, treat yourself like a princess in order to maximize your healing process. Top
How will my sex life be impacted by vaginal surgery?
The internet is full of websites that address the topic of sexual gratification and available surgeries to enhance the sexual experience.
It is true that childbirth, vaginal or perineal scarring will affect your sexual experience either from weakened vaginal muscles and/or loose vaginal tissue or from prior vaginal lacerations or poor healing from a prior episiotomy. All of the above may cause sexual discomfort or decreased friction during intercourse.
Vaginal surgeries can indeed result in tightening of the vagina and increase friction felt during intercourse and remodeling the perineum by removing and restoring a normal perineum. However, there is no guarantee that your sex life will be better or that your orgasms will be more pronounced.
Sexual gratification is a multifactorial experience involving primarily a person’s personal relationship with his or her partner. Surgery does not improve or affect a woman’s arousal. Top
When can I resume sexual intercourse?
Wait at least 6 -8 weeks after the surgery. If we have reconstructed your vagina then vaginal stretching exercises should be started after 6 -8 weeks in order to soften any scarring that might have occurred. Top
Will my partner feel any changes?
The answer is yes! If a labiaplasty was performed then you and your partner should be able to feel a difference upon entry into the vaginal canal. If a vaginoplasty/vaginal rejuvenation was performed then both partners should feel an increase in the level of friction during intercourse.
Depending upon the size of your partner, additional stretching exercise may need to be performed to allow for a more snug and comfortable feeling.
How much is an initial consultation?
The initial consultation is $200.00 and can be deducted from the cost of the surgery. The initial consultation is designed to allow discussion of the different types of available surgeries, what is best suited for the patient’s desires, and the risk/benefits of each procedure. Top
