5 Facial Exercises to Slow the Appearance of Aging
Since getting skin tightening treatments performed at the doctor’s office may not always be possible, there are many things you can do to help yourself fight off the appearance of aging while at home.
Simple facial exercises are an easy way to care for your skin and slow down the visible aging process, allowing your skin to take on that beautiful, youthful appearance. These exercises are similar to easy-to-do at-home facial massages and can be very relaxing when used as a part of a daily routine.
These exercises should be done at least six times a week for twenty minutes. Before long, you should be seeing significant results.
The V: Exercise for Eyes
This exercise is good for fighting crow’s feet, eye bags, puffiness, and drooping eyelids. It is done by pressing both of your middle fingers at the area that is the inner eyebrow corner and applying pressure. Your fingers should form a V shape over each eyelid, making it look as though both V’s are W’s.
Looking up at the ceiling, squint and relax. Repeat this a few times, squeezing your eyes shut for about ten seconds each time.
Exercise for Smiles
Perfect for eliminating sagging skin and cheek lines, this exercise is the perfect alternative to cheek fillers. Simply use your lips to hide your teeth and make an “O” shape.
Then smile as wide as you can while your teeth are hidden. Repeat this several times. Then keep your mouth’s smiling shape as you place your finger on your chin and use your jaw to tilt your head backward. Repeat this several more times.
Smooth Forehead Exercises
No one likes those horizontal forehead lines that seem to crop up, and when getting Botox isn’t an option, this exercise can help. Simply take both hands and place your fingertips on your forehead, making sure to properly spread them out from your hairline to your eyebrows.
Next, just sweep your fingertips across your forehead with a light pressure, which can help to tighten the skin. Relax, and repeat at least ten more times.
Lift the Eyebrow Area
Droopy eyebrows and deep hollows in the eye area can occur with aging, and while an eyebrow lift isn’t always possible, these simple exercises to counteract the look of aging can help. To begin, take both index fingers and place them under the eye area, pointing inward toward your nose.
Hide your teeth with your lips, and hold them away from each other. Look up toward the ceiling and flutter your eyelids for about thirty seconds.
Chin and Neck Exercises
This exercise lovingly referred to as “the giraffe,” is a great alternative to a neck and jowl lift, as it takes care of drooping neck skin and fine lines on the neck.
Look straight ahead and place your fingertips at the bottom of your neck. Tilt your head backward and apply very light pressure as you stroke your fingertips down your neck. Put your head back at your chest and repeat several times.
Next, jut your chin outwards and pull your mouth corners downward, tilting your head backward.
Take several breaths, and come back to your starting position. These simple exercises are a great alternative to skin treatments and can be done in the comfort of your own home.
