The Benefits of Vaginal Tightening Exercises for Women’s Health
Vaginal health is something that has been getting a lot more light these days, and it is prompting women everywhere to be aware of things that they can do to better care for their health. In fact, it has been quite empowering for women, as it is showing them that not only is it “acceptable” to discuss matters relating to intimate areas, but it is also encouraged. That being said, it is also important to know that all matters relating to vaginal health should be discussed openly – especially if it is something that is bothering you. One of these things that has gotten a lot of new attention lately is the subject of vaginal tightening. Whether you choose to try a natural approach to vaginal tightening or if you have decided that a more drastic approach might be better for you, it is something that you can discuss with your doctor openly and without worrying about judgment.
What is Vaginal Tightening?
Vaginal tightening is a process that corrects vaginal relaxation syndrome, which is also known as vaginal laxity. Vaginal laxity can occur for many different reasons, and it can be different for women of different ages and backgrounds. While it normally affects women who have given birth, it can also affect women due to changes in hormones, aging, certain medications, and extreme weight loss. Vaginal tightening can help to correct this concern. There are several different ways to correct vaginal laxity, from surgical procedures such as vaginoplasty to using laser procedures to natural methods such as Kegel exercises (which we will talk about here).
What Are Kegel Exercises?
Kegel exercises are simple exercises that involve clenching and releasing the pelvic floor muscles. These exercises are simple to do and can be done just about anywhere at all – whether you are standing, sitting, or lying down. Once you have discovered how to target the correct muscles in your pelvic region, you can begin doing Kegel exercises at any time. These muscles can be found by inserting a finger into the vagina and feeling for the muscles to contract while squeezing, or you can also try to find the muscles by stopping and starting your urine stream mid-flow. This will allow you to find the muscles that should be targeted by your Kegel exercise routine – but it’s not how you should do your exercising.
How Do I Do Kegel Exercises?
Once you have identified the correct muscle set, start by doing ten repetitions at a time. Spend three seconds contracting the muscles and then another three seconds releasing them. Over time, maybe over the course of a week or two, work your way up to doing ten-second contracting and then ten-second relaxing. Aim for three sets of ten repetitions each per day.
What Are the Benefits of Kegel Exercises?
Kegel exercises do bring about a plethora of benefits that definitely make these simple little exercises worth it. Here are a few that stand out:
- Reduced Stress Urinary Incontinence – One major concern that some women have noticed as they get older or after childbirth is stress urinary incontinence. With the introduction of Kegels to your routine, you will notice that you may have a reduction in the severity of the stress urinary incontinence you experience.
- Can Prevent Pelvic Conditions from Worsening – Some pelvic conditions, such as muscle weakness or stress urinary incontinence, can be prevented from worsening by the introduction of Kegel exercises.
- Vaginal Tightening – If you notice that things are quite as “tight” down there as they used to be, Kegel exercises can help. By working these muscles, you can actually increase the elasticity in the tissues of the vagina and help the muscles become stronger and able to function better than before.
Finally, remember to never overwork your body. If something hurts or makes you feel uncomfortable, stop and consult your physician for further guidance.
What Are Other Options for Vaginal Tightening?
If you have been doing Kegel exercises and have found you are not getting the results you want, or if you want a more drastic change, you can opt for a vaginoplasty, which is a procedure in which the vaginal muscles are tightened and shaped to narrow the vaginal canal. You can also opt for a form of vaginal tightening that involves radiofrequency waves.
