Vaginoplasty vs. Labiaplasty: What’s The Difference?
Dr. David Ghozland often sees patients in his Santa Monica office wanting to know the difference between vaginoplasty and labiaplasty. Both are two procedures that can help restore and refresh the vaginal walls and surrounding areas. But which one is best for you depends on individual needs.
Vaginoplasty is a reconstructive surgery that tightens the vaginal canal. The procedure also tightens the pelvic floor muscles that surround the vagina. This is commonly caused by multiple vaginal childbirths, but could also be due to dramatic weight loss, or as part of the natural aging process.
Labiaplasty is also a reconstructive surgery that can reduce the size, as well as reshape, the labia minora. Many women seek labiaplasty to offset a large labia, which can cause irritation, chafing, and an unwanted appearance when wearing tight-fitting clothes.
